Quality Ratings: + The 2008 Toyota Yaris has a predicted short-term reliability in Consumer Reports' highest category, an ownership-satisfaction rating in CR's average category, an accident avoidance rating that varies from CR's second-worst category to CR's average category, and a crash protection rating in CR's second-highest category, with side air bags, and in CR's average category, without side air bags. The 2008 Toyota Yaris is a Best of 2008 by CR's Reliability-Verdict History of the 10 Most-Recent Model Years of the Echo/Yaris model with a score of 1.00 (per the more recent and more detailed reliability tables on CR's website) and a Best of 2008 by CR's Reliability-Verdict History of the 5 Most-Recent Model Years of the Echo/Yaris model with a score of 1.00 (per the more recent and more detailed reliability tables on CR's website).1 The Toyota Echo (Yaris' predecessor) is on Auto on Info's Reliability Index Ten Best (number 3 for vehicles 6-to-8 years of age).
