April U.S. Safety Recalls by Kia (1), Volvo (1), Chrysler (1), BMW (1), Ford (3, Including Another Engine Compartment Fire), Mazda (1), and Nissan (1)

The following April 2007 U.S. safety recalls were published by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
By Hyundai Motor Company's Kia Motors Corporation (with a 1998-2002 Reliability Percentrank average of .03):
(1) 35,090 2002 Sportage sport-utility vehicles for fan blades and ring that may crack and separate and cause personal injury.
By Ford Motor Company's Volvo division (with a 1998-2002 Reliability Percentrank average of .32):
(2) 1,681 2001-2002 S60 passenger cars (in Arizona and Nevada) for possible reduced functionality of fuel pump and resulting fuel leakage. As this is a regional recall based on climatic factors, residents in neighboring states should likely be concerned as well.
By DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group (with a 1998-2002 Reliability Percentrank average of .39):
(3) 38,447 2005-2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser sport-utility vehicles for rear-quarter glass-attaching fasteners that may detach from their mounts and cause the glass to strike another vehicle or pedestrian.
By BMW AG's BMW division (with a 1998-2002 Reliability Percentrank average of .39):
(4) 225 2007 6 Series passenger cars for a passenger seat sensor that fails to distinguish between a small adult and a child restraint system.
By Ford Motor Company (with a 1998-2002 Reliability Percentrank average of .48):
(5) 446,460 2001-2004 Ford Escape sport-utility vehicles for possibly missing or dislodged wire seals about the antilock brake system's module connector that could allow contamination to enter the module connector, cause a short, and start a fire. (6) 11 2007 Ford Explorer sport-utility vehicles and Ford Explorer Sport Track crew-cab pickup trucks for steering-gear-assembly bolts that may have been overtightened and consequently may be easily fractured.
(7) 630 2007 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis large sedans for brake lines that may have been reversed at the antilock brake system's hydraulic control unit.
By Mazda Motor Corporation (with a 1998-2002 Reliability Percentrank average of .65):
(8) 95,300 2001-2004 Mazda Tribute sport-utility vehicles for possibly missing or dislodged wire seals about the antilock brake system's module connector that could allow contamination to enter the module connector, cause a short, and start a fire. This is the Mazda version of the Ford Escape; Mazda is an affiliate of Ford Motor Company. For more details on Ford's history of engine compartment fires, see entry no. 5 above.
By Nissan Motor Company (with a 1998-2002 Reliability Percentrank average of .73):
(9) 35,775 2004 Nissan Titan crew-cab pickup trucks for possible failure of rear-center seat belt to release from the automatic locking mode.
